Education & Career
Hi friends! My name is Laura Kaeppeler and I am 23 years old and a Kenosha native. I am a 2006 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 2010 graduate Carthage College. At Carthage, I graduated with a Music major and an emphasis in Vocal Performance. At Carthage I was very involved in the music department. I sang in The Carthage Choir, The Lincoln Chamber Singers, traveled abroad to Europe for a 2-week choir tour, and was the Activities Director and Vice President of Lambda Kappa, The Professional Music Fraternity. Currently, I teach private voice and piano lessons and am the Director of Music Ministries for Northside Bible Church. I plan to pursue a master’s degree in either Vocal Performance or Speech Pathology.
Family
I am the daughter of my biggest fans, Jeff and Sue Kaeppeler. My parents have been the two most influential people in my life, and have truly shaped me to become the woman I am today. My mom is a 4th grade teacher, and my Dad owns Fresh Start Painting.
I have two younger sisters, Rachel and Sarah. Rachel is a junior at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She is the artist of the family, loves the Beatles and (just like myself) is an avid Chicago Cubbies fan! Sarah is a senior at St. Joseph High School. Sarah is quite the athlete, participating in Varsity softball, where she plays center field and is also a cheerleader! Sarah is spunky, fun and perfect to cheer on SJCA athletics!
My family is the most important aspect of my life, I truly would not be who I am without them!
Music
For as long as I can remember, I was always on some sort of stage, performing in some sort of atmosphere. As a toddler, my parents found that I loved to perform, smile, dance, and sing. At a very young age, they decided to enroll me in dance at Sass Productions, where I was introduced to Music Theater. In grade school, I was in numerous “kid’s casts” of musicals at the local high school, and in the 4th grade, my parents enrolled me in voice lessons. It was then that I found my love for music that continued throughout high school. In college, I studied piano as well, which has become very helpful in accompanying my voice students as well as I at church. I enjoy singing and performing and I am beyond excited to sing on the Miss America stage in January!!

- I am the proud mom of a 1 year old Shih Tsu/Maltese named Smokey

Bio:
Laura Kaeppeler, Miss Wisconsin 2011, is a 2010 graduate of Carthage College in Kenosha with a degree in Music and an emphasis in Vocal Performance, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Kaeppeler, 23, will compete for the title of Miss America 2012 at the national pageant televised on ABC in January 2012. Kaeppler is a talented vocalist and performs an operatic aria to “Il Bacio” for competition. Her year of service focuses on her platform, a program she developed and is promoting throughout the state -- “Circles of Support - Mentoring Teens of Incarcerated Parents.” She is the owner of a private music studio and instructor of voice and piano lessons. Kaeppeler is a life-long suffering Cubs fan, enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and taking care of her one-year old puppy, Smokey.
