The changing of the seasons brings about the perfect opportunity to do something new, something bold, something beautiful. You have the power to change yourself, your outlook, your mindset. Therein lies the opportunity to live an extraordinary life.
When I set out on my journey as Miss Wisconsin nearly five months ago, I had no idea how much this honor would change me. It has shaped the way I look at life and how precious time is, altered my outlook on success and given me the courage to take a platform that I believe in to the next level. This opportunity has emboldened me to be brave enough to start conversations that matter. Conversations about my platform, Table Talk, Children’ s Miracle Network advocacy, muscular dystrophy medical advancements, domestic abuse awareness, women’s empowerment in the workplace and so much more. In leading these conversations, it has become abundantly clear to me that truly listening to one another often times leads to the greatest amount of healing. Whether I’m visiting with sick children at the hospital, attending a fundraiser or signing autographs at a meet & greet, forming a connection with an individual or an audience is ultimately what crafts the most meaningful moments.
One doesn’t need a crown and a sash to start these conversations, though. Every act of kindness has the power to change lives in ways we may never know. As we enter the Christmas season, I challenge you to carry out acts of kindness, volunteer your time where you can and lend a listening ear to those in need.
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can to be a shining example of love and hope.
